Lessons

If you're interested in private lessons, I'm more than happy to discuss your goals and where a good place to start would be. It's important to find a music instructor who understands that every student is unique and can give lessons that move at an appropriate pace.

If you're a beginning student we'll focus on building technique and music-reading fluency in a structured way. I primarily use the Bastien Piano Basics series with my keyboardists and the Suzuki series for my string students, with supplemental material as appropriate. These methods take a graduated approach to music, building new techniques as the lessons go on, while reinforcing established techniques.

For students who have had some lessons previously I'm also open to using other materials that you might already be familiar with, and to help you continue to grow your musical interests! I'm also always happy to discuss more in-depth music theory for more advanced students.

My rate is $45 for a half-hour, weekly lesson.

Age: Generally I teach ages 6 and up. Music lessons, especially piano, require the student to sit still for a fairly long period of time while following along with activities from our method book. First grade is generally an appropriate time to get started.

My physical location is in beautiful mid-Carmel Valley, about 5 minutes from hwy 1/the Carmel Crossroads.
